Welcome to the new Steve Sparkman, "Stanley Style Banjo", website!

After years of studying the trademark Stanley Style Banjo
attack and eventually drawing the attention of the legendary
Dr. Ralph Stanley himself, Steve Sparkman's phone rang. Recently
injured and in need of a temporary banjo player, Dr. Stanley invited
Steve to join his Clinch Mountain Boys on an upcoming tour. Steve
jumped at the chance to join his hero on stage and he hasn't looked
back since. The year was 1994.

To this day, Steve continues to play alongside Dr. Stanley as a
permanent member of the Clinch Mountain Boys and has established
himself as the preeminent Stanley Style banjo player in the world
of Bluegrass music. This DVD is the result of countless requests
from fans yearning to learn more about Stanley Style banjo and it
also represents Steve's pe rsonal tribute to his mentor, Dr. Ralph Stanley.

LISTEN TO STEVE PLAY ON BOB DYLAN'S LATEST RELEASE

In 1998 Steve and the rest of the Clinch Mountain Boys collaborated with Bob Dylan and Dr. Ralph on "The Lonesome River," a song only previously released on Dr. Ralph's "Clinch Mountain Country" cd. Now Bob Dylan has reissued the song on his new "Tell Tale Signs--Rare and Unreleased 1989-2006" cd, the eighth volume in his critically acclaimed Bootleg Series from Columbia Records. Steve says, "It was an honor to record with Bob Dylan and it was also a nice feeling to learn that he is a big fan of Ralph Stanley music. I am very proud of how our collaboration turned out."
